The Thomas Recipe for Opiate Detox

I've heard a few people talk about using the “Thomas Recipe” for detoxing from opiates. Most of the herbs and drugs that are part of that regimen can be found.

As soon as you can force yourself to, get some mild exercise such as walking, cycling, swimming, etc. This will be hard at first, but will make you feel considerably better. - Thomas”

Thanks for the tips, and the kind words. Also, congrats on the 27 months. I do agree that the “planning” phase is usually difficult, but it’s definiy a good way to prepare mentally, if you have the luxury of doing it.

Good luck Claudia! Life just so sweet when you’re not going through withdrawals.

It’s only stupid if it’s done wrong.

I've come across the “Thomas Recipe” a number of different places. One of my favorite sites about opiate withdrawal is VicodinWithdrawal.org. I have reprinted.

Another thing that help – even if it seems counter intuitive – is exercise. It may be hard to exercise if you feel weak and out of sorts, but the exersize will help in a number if different ways. First, exercise will raise your natural “feel good” brain chemicals (the endorphin.) Exercise will actually start to give you more energy in its own right. Exercise helps you feel more relaxed and get more sleep. Finally exercise will help reduce RLS feelings.

It does look like Elimidrol is more expensive than Withdrawal Ease, but I think this is because it is more effective.

Thomas Recipe: A member mentioned using the Thomas Recipe to withdrawal from opiates, I never heard of it so googled it. I don't know if it works, Has.

Xanax – prescribed for anxiety free or what insurance requires you to pay.

3. L-Tyrosine (500 mg caps) from the health food store.

Water- To keep hydrated. Lots of it and any kind, free is what I used.

•All Natural: Formulated using the highest quality natural and certified organic ingredients.

Hope Faith and Courage baby......Hope Faith and Courage.

Take as much as you need, as often as you need it. DON'T TAKE IT, however, if you don't need it.[Diarrhea is the bodies way to aid in the detox so take Immodium or generic for the comfort factor, if needed].

I love both the simplicity and the strength of The Thomas Recipe, which consists of the following: Valium (or another benzodiazepine such as Xanax, Ativan, or Klonopin) – Powerful anxiety medications available by prescription only.

Step 5. Start exercising as soon as you feel ready. This really helps you produce endorphins, which are our bodies natural pain killers. Exercise is one of the most powerful home remedies for opiate withdrawal. Bypassing this important step will surely impede your progress, so make sure to do a type of exercise you enjoy, that way you will be more likely to stick with it.

Step 4. On the fourth day start taking 2,000 mg of L-Tyrosine with B6 on an empty stomach an hour before eating breakfast.

The Thomas Recipe does not provide relief for the insomnia, anxiety, and irritability that are sure to last beyond the first few days in your detox. The Valium (or substitute) will help, but what happens after day 4 or 5? It also provides no relief for:

The Thomas Recipe is more myth and legend than a true method to relieve opiate withdrawal. Like many legends, this one continues to grow even without substantial proof that it works. The Thomas Recipe was designed by a long-time prescription opiate addict.
