Pregnant and taking oxycodone - Special Concerns

Okay first of all don't listen to that ignorant woman who said your baby will test positive for opiates and they will call child protective services. She is a troll and should just be ignored. Secondly, you are almost in your 2nd trimester so you should be fine on percocet. I had a 7mm kidney stone and a dilated kidney starting at 22 weeks pregnant. From that point on I was on hydrocodone and then oxycodone until two days before I had my son (kidney stone passed THANK GOD). Yes we had to be careful during delivery and afterward just in case he went through withdrawal, but he was just fine and continues to be at the top of his growth chart and has surpassed all his developmental milestones. Your doctor would not prescribe you something if the benefits did not outweigh the risks (and they DO NOT take risks with babies over something like pain relief). I hope this helps you feel better. Try not to worry (((HUGS))) Okay first of all don't listen to that ignorant woman who said your baby will test positive for opiates and they will call child protective services. Im 11 weeks pregnant and I just had surgery yesterday. the nurse handed me a prescription for percocet which I worried about because I thought I couldn't take anything stronger than regular Tylenol. When my mom came home from riteaid she had what reads "oxycodone- acetaminophen 5-325 subst for percocet". does the pharmacy know I'm pregnant? I took one lastnight and I woke up in pain with 2 hours before I could take another one. I'm just not sure if I should be taking this at all :/ Im 11 weeks pregnant and I just had surgery yesterday. the nurse handed me a prescription for percocet which I worried about because I thought I couldn't take anything stronger than regular Tylenol. Totally not safe. And more your baby's meconium will test positive for opiates. Which may lead to a child protection investigation Totally not safe. And more your baby's meconium will test positive for opiates. Which may lead to a child protection investigation.

I have L&D clinicals right now, and yes, they do tox screens on meconium, but ONLY if they have a valid reason. Percocet is widely distributed, meaning it crosses the placenta and enters breastmilk. However, it is considered safe--it is class C, but this just means there have not been any organized human studies done (how many pregnant women sign up for drug trials?) Taken as prescribed won't cause harm. I have L&D clinicals right now, and yes, they do tox screens on meconium, but ONLY if they have a valid reason. Not to mention she's only 11 weeks..... I sure hope she won't be taking it that long. Not to mention she's only 11 weeks..... I sure hope she won't be taking it that long.

Please. As an ob nurse I ASSURE you that we never tested meconium for anything... Why would you assume meconium stained fluid anyway? That being said, it is a LEGAL AND PRESCRIBED medication. Please refrain from posting on topics that you have no knowledge of. Pain causes stress, stress is hard on baby. Take your prescription. Please.
