I know there have been discussions on Tramadol before, but until one is ready to experiment themselves, there is no curiosity. I have been.
CAUTION: Given that you have been on oxycodone for an extended period of time please speak to your doctor about how to taper off this medication. I have been taking Tylenol #3 for 2 years now with no noted side effects. I have a low tolerance for this medication. Tramadol made me very drowsy and light headed.

hi Craig- i too am an alcoholic-i have been in recovery since 2005- i was given Tramadol after back and shoulder surgry, on the basis that they were non-addictive-as the doc new about my problem with addiction to alcohol- i was also given solpodol(codeine and paracetamol) i began abusing both and ended up taking 1000mg Tramadol a day and 20 solpodol - i quit last september-cold turkey-it was a nightmare, but i managed to stay off them - the WD's took about 12-14 days to pass-i am amazed you were on Tramadol & oxycodone together- i know what you mean about being apathetic when taking these pills, i was the same-couldnt get enthusiastic about anything-the big problem with Tramadol is it is a synthetic drug and has a unique pharmacology, so it is hard to replace it with anything to lessen the WD's- especially when you are taking something else-i would not recomend doing it cold turkey and without medical advise- the best method may be to taper off it slowly over a couple of months- whatever way you chose the benefits of getting of that drug (TRAMADOL) makes it well worth the pain of WD's-my life has changed so much for the better since i quit- it can be done-best of luck with it.

Wow really I've never felt that way. It feels generally the same as any other opiod to me, just weak as shit.
I wish I had come here first before I took the tramadol!! I'll remember for future questions :3 I woke up wide awake now though.
Its actually an SNRI, it always feels like a mini MDMA roll to me and the comedown is awful. I would barely even call Tramadol an opiate. For me personally the majority of effects come from serotonin/norepinephrine release.
Official Full-Text Publication: Post-operative pain therapy with controlled release oxycodone or controlled release tramadol following orthopedic surgery: A.
Parameters for vital signs remained stable. Further investigation is needed in order to confirm these results. Controlled release oxycodone was shown to cause less nausea and emesis than controlled release tramadol. Nausea and emesis occurred significantly more frequently with tramadol (p = 0.011, p = 0.013). Background and objective: The purpose of this trial was to compare the efficacy, safety and side effects of post-operative pain therapy using oral controlled release formulations of tramadol and oxycodone. Methods: In a prospective, randomized, double-blind investigation, we observed the post-operative course of 57 patients scheduled for orthopedic surgery. We used chi-squared or Fisher's exact test for categorical variables and the Mann?Whitney U-test for numerical variables (p < 0.05).Results: Demographic medical data and pain levels did not differ between the two treatments. Despite insignificance, central effects such as sedation, insomnia, myoclonus or nightmares were more frequent with tramadol. We assessed pain at rest and during exercise, vital signs and side effects using direct measuring and Numerical Rating Scales over a period of three post-operative days. During the post-operative period, dizziness and sedation were attenuated significantly in the tramadol group (p = 0.031, p = 0.015) as was dry mouth in the oxycodone group (p = 0.041).Conclusion: Our findings underline the efficacy of oral controlled release formulations of tramadol and oxycodone for post-operative pain therapy.
